Nakai Maruoka Clinic, located in Kamitonda-cho, Nishimuro-gun, Wakayama Prefecture, is a community-based internal medicine clinic with approximately 60 years of history since its establishment. Operated by the medical corporation Yodankai, this clinic has supported the health of Kamitonda-cho and its surrounding areas across three generations. Currently, Dr. Shimpei Maruoka, the third-generation director, leads the practice. Dr. Maruoka brings dual expertise as a gastrointestinal surgeon with surgical experience and as an internist trained at a regional core hospital, enabling him to provide diagnoses and treatments tailored to each individual patient. A particularly noteworthy feature of the clinic is its endoscopy program, which began full-scale operations in April 2026. Gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedures are performed by a specialist in gastrointestinal endoscopy, utilizing patient-friendly techniques such as transnasal endoscopy and carbon dioxide insufflation. The facility is also equipped with a recovery room where patients can be transferred on their beds after examination, ensuring a comfortable and reassuring experience. The clinic covers a wide range of medical needs, from management of lifestyle-related diseases and chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, to various screenings aimed at the early detection of gastric cancer and colorectal polyps. English-language consultations are available and ample parking is provided. Consultations are held on weekday and Saturday mornings and afternoons, combining the long-established trust of a local medical hub with new areas of specialization.
