Clinic Okudera is a psychiatric clinic located in Kyodo, Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, offering English-language services. The clinic specializes in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and primarily treats patients with chronic depression, trauma-related disorders, and adolescents. The director graduated from Waseda University's School of Political Science and Economics, then earned his medical degree from Gunma University School of Medicine in 1985, followed by 17 years at the Department of Neuropsychiatry at the same university. From 1994 to 1996, he studied as an international research fellow at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry in the United States, honing his expertise in psychodynamic psychiatry and psychoanalytic psychotherapy through the child and adolescent ward and trauma recovery programs. Additionally, from 1999 to 2002, he trained as a clinical fellow at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust in the UK, where he studied psychoanalytic psychotherapy in the adult department. After returning to Japan, he served as Vice Director at Akagi Kogen Hospital, then as Chief Physician at the National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry Hospital before establishing his own practice. He currently serves as a part-time lecturer at Gunma University Graduate School of Medicine, a guest researcher at the National Institute of Mental Health, and a cooperating lecturer at The Open University of Japan. The clinic operates by appointment and is closed on Mondays, Sundays, holidays, and year-end/New Year holidays.
