Kirigaoka Tsuda Hospital, located in Kokurakita Ward, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, is an internal medicine hospital specializing in respiratory and sleep medicine. The hospital holds three accreditations: a certified facility of the Japanese Respiratory Society, a certified facility of the Japanese Society of Sleep Research, and a core training facility for the allergy field of the Japanese Society of Allergology, making it a central institution for respiratory medicine in the Kitakyushu region. The hospital treats approximately 1,000 patients with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) — the largest number in Kyushu — and around 2,800 patients with bronchial asthma. Its cumulative record of overnight polysomnography (PSG) examinations for sleep apnea syndrome approaches 10,000 cases. With 69 inpatient beds, the hospital is equipped to handle both outpatient care and hospitalization when necessary. Pulmonary rehabilitation is a long-standing practice first reported in Japan by the previous director in 1965, and today 14 physical therapists continue to support the improvement of quality of life for patients with chronic respiratory diseases. The hospital is also actively engaged in home medical care through home oxygen therapy, home visits, and visiting nursing services, while also serving as a trusted neighborhood internal medicine clinic. English-language support is available, and the facility is fully equipped with parking and barrier-free accommodations.
