Hagi City National Health Insurance Oshima Clinic is located on Oshima Island, situated in the Sea of Japan approximately 8 km north of the Hagi City mainland. As the only medical facility on the island, it supports the health of local residents. In November 2021, the clinic relocated to "Yuai-kan," a newly developed multipurpose complex with full barrier-free accessibility, where it provides internal medicine and pediatric care. Despite its small team of one physician, two nurses, and one administrative staff member, the clinic maintains a high standard of care with equipment including X-ray imaging devices, ultrasound diagnostic systems, and electronic endoscopes. Since fiscal year 2023, a remote image diagnosis system has been introduced, enabling the delivery of high-quality medical care with specialist support. The clinic operates four days a week — Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday — and English-language assistance is available, making it accessible to diverse visitors to the island. With ample parking on-site, the clinic is deeply rooted in island life, meeting the everyday medical needs of a community where more than 48.6% of residents are elderly.
