Shiomisaki Hospital, operated by the medical corporation Hosonkai, is a specialized psychiatric hospital located on a naturally rich hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean at Cape Shionomisaki—the southernmost point of Honshu in Kushimoto Town, Higashimuro District, Wakayama Prefecture. Since its establishment in 1965, the hospital has provided community-based psychiatric services for over 60 years. With 180 authorized beds, the facility comprises 2 internal medicine beds and 178 psychiatric beds (58 treatment ward beds and 120 convalescent ward beds). In addition to examinations by psychiatric specialists, the hospital offers comprehensive treatment combining psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, and occupational therapy. The hospital has implemented unique initiatives such as incorporating 'Sports Voice' into occupational therapy to maintain and improve activities of daily living for inpatients. In October 2023, a full-time physician was recruited from Wakayama Medical University Hospital to enhance the medical care system. The hospital also maintains support systems for post-discharge life, including psychiatric home-visit nursing, day care services, and the group home 'Misaki Heights,' providing continuous support for patients' social reintegration. English-language services are available, and parking is provided on-site. Outpatient reception hours are from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM, with Saturday consultations available only on designated days.
