Located in Kainan City, Wakayama Prefecture, approximately a 7-minute walk from Kainan Station, Tanaka Eye Clinic is an ophthalmology specialty clinic that opened in 2009. Dr. Go Tanaka, the clinic director, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who graduated from Wakayama Medical University and completed his training in the university's Department of Ophthalmology, where he earned his Doctor of Medical Science degree with research on cataracts. He also serves as a school physician at numerous local schools. The clinic provides general ophthalmology care and contact lens prescriptions, as well as same-day cataract surgery performed by Dr. Hajime Bando, a former deputy chief of ophthalmology at Osaka Rosai Hospital, who has performed over 3,000 surgeries annually. The clinic utilizes the cutting-edge "VERION Image Guided System" for cataract surgery, which displays incision sites and intraocular lens positioning on the surgical microscope screen to achieve high-precision procedures. Additionally, the "Centurion" surgical system is employed, which continuously monitors intraocular pressure and automatically regulates irrigation fluid to enhance safety. Toric and multifocal intraocular lenses are also available. Furthermore, orthokeratology is offered, which involves wearing specialized contact lenses during sleep to allow for clear daytime vision without correction, and is also used to slow myopia progression in children. English language support is available, the facility is barrier-free with parking provided, creating an accessible environment for a wide range of patients.
