Katata Eye Clinic, conveniently located in front of JR Katata Station, has served as a cornerstone of ophthalmological care in the Mano area of Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, for approximately 24 years. Since its founding in 2002 (Heisei 14), the clinic has operated under the leadership of Director Masashi Yamaguchi, providing treatment for eye conditions including cataracts and glaucoma, as well as a broad range of symptoms such as dry eye, eye strain, and allergic diseases. The clinic has also actively offered contact lens prescriptions, with a thorough guidance system in place for first-time contact lens users. The director has concurrently served as school physician for nearby kindergartens, elementary schools, and junior high schools, dedicating many years to delivering deeply community-rooted ophthalmological care. The facility was equipped with an elevator and ample parking, making it accessible for elderly patients and those traveling by car. The availability of English-language consultations was also a distinguishing feature, enabling flexible support for patients with limited Japanese proficiency. Please note that the clinic permanently closed on February 28, 2026, and patients are being directed to nearby medical institutions.
