Tanpopo Midwifery Clinic, located in Yawata-cho, Soka City, Saitama Prefecture, is a community-based midwifery clinic that opened in October 2003. The clinic director obtained her midwifery qualification in 1974 and gained extensive experience working at Soka Municipal Hospital before opening her practice at home in 2002. The clinic operates under a philosophy of providing an environment where mothers and babies can spend time together comfortably even after childbirth, offering comprehensive support throughout pregnancy and postpartum periods including breastfeeding support, breast care, and pelvic care. Since November 2014, the clinic has discontinued birth services and now specializes in postpartum care including breast management and pelvic care, as well as childcare consultations. Various service formats are available including day care, half-day care, and home visit care, allowing use according to each postpartum mother's situation. Baby massage classes and handmade baby clothing workshops are held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, serving as a gathering place for local families raising children. The director also holds a chiropractor qualification and provides pelvic care from pregnancy through postpartum. English assistance is available, and parking is provided. The clinic aims to support women across all life stages, not limited to pregnancy and childbirth but also including sex education for young children and adolescents.
