Located in front of the rotary at Yakushido Station on the Sendai Subway Tozai Line, Ohashi Memorial Yakushido Eye Clinic is an ophthalmology specialty clinic that opened in May 2020. This new clinic was established in Wakabayashi Ward by the long-established 'Ohashi Eye Clinic,' founded in 1919, to mark its 100th anniversary. Clinic director Dr. Keiko Yamaguchi holds qualifications as a Japan Ophthalmological Society Board Certified Specialist and a Ph.D. from Tohoku University School of Medicine, with extensive experience specializing in pediatric ophthalmology at Miyagi Prefectural Children's Hospital for many years. The clinic provides comprehensive ophthalmology care for a wide range of conditions including amblyopia, vision loss, conjunctivitis, dry eye, cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal changes due to diabetes or hypertension, treating patients from children to adults. For cases requiring surgery or laser treatment, the clinic has established a cooperative system with the main clinic and Tohoku University Hospital. The facility features barrier-free design, ensuring smooth access for wheelchair and stroller users. The clinic has experience examining children with autism and hyperactivity, accommodating cases where other facilities found examinations difficult. They also prescribe orthokeratology lenses (ortho lenses) for myopia progression prevention, offered as an out-of-pocket treatment option primarily targeting elementary and junior high school students. The clinic provides English-speaking support and has on-site parking available.
