Dr. Yu Sakurai, the clinic director, is an experienced breast specialist who has performed 150-250 surgeries annually at university hospitals and affiliated facilities since joining the Department of Breast Endocrine Surgery at Tohoku University in 2003, having handled over 2,000 breast cancer surgeries to date. The clinic serves as a facility for detailed examinations for those who have been recommended for further testing after breast cancer screening; however, it does not conduct breast cancer screening itself. Diagnostic services include mammography and ultrasound examinations, and if abnormalities are detected, the clinic also provides detailed examinations such as needle biopsy and mammotome biopsy. Mammography examinations are performed by female staff. When malignancy is diagnosed, surgery and chemotherapy are conducted at the affiliated Sendai City Hospital on Tuesdays and Fridays, and referrals to other facilities are also made as needed. A second opinion clinic is available for those seeking a specialist's opinion on diagnosis results or treatment plans from other hospitals, and consultations are accepted without referral letters.
