Located in Tsurugaya, Miyagino Ward, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, the Sendai City Medical Center Sendai Open Hospital is a public-interest foundation established in 1976 through collaboration between Sendai City and the Sendai Medical Association as Japan's first publicly-funded privately-operated hospital. With 330 beds, the hospital supports regional healthcare centered on three pillars: emergency medicine, advanced medicine, and preventive medicine. The Emergency Center operates as an ER, providing advanced emergency care on a 24/7, 365-day basis. As a specialized hospital for digestive, respiratory, and circulatory system diseases, it has established a system capable of immediate response to emergency endoscopic examinations, emergency catheter treatments, and emergency surgeries. The hospital performs 800-900 cardiac catheter procedures annually and maintains surgical volumes at top-level standards in the Tohoku region. In 1998, it became the first hospital in Japan to be certified as a regional medical support hospital, playing a key role in supporting advanced regional healthcare in collaboration with over 650 registered physicians in the prefecture. The hospital has also introduced the latest surgical assistance robot "Da Vinci 5." The Health Checkup Center attached to the hospital offers comprehensive medical checkups and various cancer screenings, with the strength of being able to swiftly transition to hospital treatment when precise examination or treatment is required. In addition to multilingual support including English, Chinese, and Korean, the hospital accepts credit cards and electronic payments, and is equipped with barrier-free facilities and parking.
