Tosa Hospital is a psychiatric hospital located in Shinhonmachi, Kochi City, about an 8-minute walk from JR Kochi Station, serving as a core hospital in Kochi Prefecture's psychiatric emergency medical system. Established in 1933 as a 36-bed psychiatric hospital, it has dedicated over 80 years to the treatment of mental illnesses. Since 2006, the hospital has equipped a psychiatric emergency ward, aiming to improve treatment quality, and with the new ward completed in 2014, it strives for open treatment and early social reintegration. The hospital features three wards tailored to recovery stages, utilizing occupational therapy, day care, and home nursing to support early social rehabilitation while also responding to weekday psychiatric emergencies. With its refreshing exterior of white and green walls and gentle-colored shades evoking sunlight filtering through trees, the building emphasizes harmony with its surroundings. Beyond the central courtyard, each floor features dedicated gardens, prioritizing the healing effects of greenery and the benefits of sunlight for sleep-wake rhythms. The facility also includes a well-equipped hall and large conference room, with English support, parking, and barrier-free accessibility.
