Located in Tsuzuki-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Showa University Yokohama Northern Hospital is certified by the Japan Council for Quality Health Care and serves as a regional cancer cooperation base hospital and regional perinatal care center. A distinctive feature is the Thyroid Center, unique among university hospitals in Japan, providing multidisciplinary team care spanning surgery, internal medicine, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, radiology, and pathology. The center treats benign thyroid tumors, thyroid cancer, Graves' disease, Hashimoto's disease, thyroid cysts, parathyroid adenoma, and parathyroid cancer, and is the only facility in Japan performing radiofrequency ablation for thyroid nodules. With over 250 cases performed, this non-surgical treatment that leaves no scars has attracted significant attention.
