Located in the Mizusawa district of Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture, Otamegawa Hospital has been a specialized hospital serving the community's mental health care for over half a century since its establishment in 1963. Operated by the medical corporation Soseikai, the hospital focuses on treating mental illnesses and supporting social reintegration, with a 274-bed inpatient facility for psychiatry. Outpatient consultations are available from Monday to Saturday, 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, with consultations held until 5:00 PM on weekdays and until 1:00 PM on Saturdays. The hospital is closed on Sundays and holidays, and advance phone reservations are required for first-time patients. In terms of rehabilitation, the hospital implements psychiatric day care and short-term care (both large-scale), occupational therapy, as well as cognitive therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy programs, establishing a support system designed for gradual social reintegration. The facility is equipped with CT imaging and remote diagnostic imaging capabilities, allowing for the management of physical complications associated with mental illnesses. In addition to English language support, the hospital offers parking and barrier-free facilities, creating an accessible environment for diverse users. The hospital also features an adjacent elderly healthcare facility "Koseien" (48 beds), with one of its characteristics being its ability to provide mental health care for elderly patients.
