Located in HAT Kobe, Chuo Ward, Kobe City, the Kobe Children's Initial Emergency Center is a primary emergency medical facility specializing in pediatrics. Established in December 2010 as a collaborative project among Kobe City, Kobe University, and the Kobe Medical Association, the center addresses sudden pediatric internal medicine conditions during nights and holidays. A key feature is its 365-day operation: weekdays from 8:00 PM to 7:00 AM the following morning, Saturdays from 3:00 PM to 7:00 AM the following morning, and Sundays, holidays, and year-end/New Year periods from 9:00 AM to 7:00 AM the following morning. The center has physicians, nurses, pharmacists, clinical laboratory technicians, and radiologic technologists on staff, with fully equipped examination and X-ray rooms, enabling healthcare delivery at the same level as routine care. Pre-visit telephone consultations with nurses are available to help determine the necessity of a visit and provide guidance on home first aid. The center employs a triage system to prioritize treatment by urgency and maintains dedicated examination rooms for infectious disease patients to prevent contact with general patients, reflecting careful infection control measures. Multilingual support including English and Korean is available, and parking is provided. The Kobe University Pediatric Acute Illness Research Institute is affiliated with the center, implementing initiatives to return clinical research findings to community healthcare.
