Okawa Eye Clinic, a medical corporation located in Iwamizawa City, Hokkaido, is a community-based ophthalmology clinic with a history spanning over 46 years. Carrying on the tradition of its former director who served the local community for many years, the clinic underwent a complete renovation of its building and facilities in 2019. In autumn 2022, Dr. Hiromasa Saijo, a glaucoma specialist, became the vice director, and the medical system has been further enhanced with the expansion of the operating room and increased staffing. A major feature of the clinic is its extensive array of state-of-the-art medical equipment. With the introduction of the latest OCT capable of imaging retinal blood vessels, diagnosis and treatment of diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration are now possible without contrast examinations. The clinic also provides high-precision cataract surgery using a wide-angle fundus camera that can capture the entire 120° retina without pupil dilation, Alcon's next-generation ultrasound cataract surgery system "Centurion Vision System," and ZEISS surgical microscopes. Since 2022, the clinic has also offered glaucoma laser treatment, expanding treatment options beyond eye drops. Furthermore, the clinic provides orthokeratology, a vision correction method that does not require surgery, as well as home visit services to special nursing homes, ensuring that even patients who have difficulty visiting the clinic have access to ophthalmic care. For urgent cases, the clinic has a system in place to collaborate with Sapporo Medical University and Iwamizawa City Hospital. Equipped with English language support, credit card and electronic payment options, eight parking spaces, and barrier-free facilities, the clinic meets a wide range of needs.
