Sakura Hospital, located in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, has supported community psychiatric care for over 60 years since its opening in 1961. This reinforced concrete two-story facility is equipped with 142 inpatient beds and offers three medical specialties: psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and internal medicine. The hospital treats a wide range of conditions, including mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder), schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, panic disorders, dementia, and adjustment disorders, covering major psychiatric disorders. In particular, the hospital actively provides inpatient treatment for patients with severe depression symptoms who are unable to leave home or have suicidal ideation, and after symptoms stabilize, offers phased social reintegration support through return-to-work programs at the day care center. The hospital is also characterized by its comprehensive system capable of handling high-emergency cases requiring hospitalization, such as problem behaviors due to manic states and hallucinations or delusions associated with schizophrenia. The facility includes a parking lot and is barrier-free, making it an accessible environment for those with mobility concerns. English language services are available, and initial consultations are by appointment only.
